Monsignor Georg Austen has been Secretary General of Bonifatiuswerk of German Catholics and Secretary of the Diaspora Commission of the German Bishops since 2008. Bonifatiuswerk supports Catholic Christians in extreme minority situations in Germany, Northern Europe and the Baltic States. In his work, Georg Austen is particularly committed to making room for the Gospel in today’s world and to promoting solidarity as help for self-help in a timely manner. Before joining the Bonifatiuswerk, he was secretary of the XX. World Youth Day in Cologne from 2002 to 2006, and before that student pastor in Paderborn and diocesan pastor of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) in the Archdiocese of Paderborn.
